Welcome to the Restaurant Pizzeria "La Scalinata".
We are not a tourist place,
we are not a bistro,
we do not offer sofas,
we do not have a dehor,
we are a true Roman tavern that will not be forgotten.
Located in the direct passage between the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, in the past this place was a “wine and oil” store. Nowadays La Scalinata presents itself as a place of custody of the simple and straightforward taste of the Roman tradition. Here you are welcomed with warmth, you eat in joy and relaxation among the scents of dishes that bring back to the smells of the Roman alleys of the past.
Our restaurant does not have outdoor tables for the summer season, but inside you eat in a comfortable cool and in a pleasant environment far away from those noisy "exhaust pipes".
Here you eat the cuisine of substance not for the eyes but for the belly, without flowers, foams and without embroideries.

LA PIZZA romana
The pizza here is made as it should be: rightly 24 hours of rising and... two hours of digestion and not the other way around, even if now it's fashionable to make a pizza in the shape of a dome, all nice and puffy and without a damn thing on top... NO! WE REBEL!
We want it tight, not that it hangs from all sides, full of toppings and mozzarella that when you eat it you leave nothing and ... without a frame.
Because we don't have to hang it on the wall with a hook.
LA CUCINA ROMANA
We don't like "molecular cuisine", we like "Jawbone Cuisine". Everything for us should be normal, even the salt in the kitchen, don't mention the pink salt from the Himalayas....We don't like things cooked at "low temperature", we are just for things "cooked and eaten"!
desserts
Most of them are homemade, in particular the Roman shortcrust tart with ricotta and sour cherries and a tiramisù that pulls you up so much that then someone else has to bring you back down ...
wines
We have labels from the best and most renowned wineries of Italy, as it is requested by our customers. But many of our visitors are happy to drink our wine by the glass and those who drink it… sing!
